David graduated from San Diego State University in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Services. After spending a year with a local brokerage firm in La Jolla, David joined IDS Financial Services in 1990. He spent the next 18 years with IDS which was bought by American Express in 1996 and spun off as Ameriprise Financial in 2005. David decided to go independent in April of 2008 when he co-founded Carlsbad Wealth Advisory Group.

David was born on February 14, 1966 and has been married to his wife Nora since October 21, 1995. They have two children Mitchell and Nina. In his free time he enjoys mountain biking and golfing.

David is a founding member of the Brian Schultz Memorial Foundation. Brian Schultz was David’s college roommate who lost his battle with cancer in 1995. The foundation holds annual events to help raise money for cancer research. The event is held at a new location in San Diego each year and proceeds are granted to the UCSD Cancer Research Center.
